'The Nucleus of a Multiprogramming System' (1970) and 'Structured multiprogramming' (1972) sit in performance-against-isolation, the set that runs from 1966 to 2023 on operating systems caught between speed and isolation. 'Distributed processes: a concurrent programming concept' (1978) and 'Reproducible testing of monitors' (1978) follow the same year -- the first proposes the construct, the second asks how you would test an implementation of it.
Read beside hoare, whose 'Monitors' (1974) and 'Communicating sequential processes' (1978) are in the same set: the corpus holds both men's answers to the concurrency question within four years of each other, and they are different answers.
A caution about the copies.
