Microarchitectural attacks on kernel isolation: Meltdown, held twice as the arXiv report and the USENIX paper, and Spectre. The fourth record is 'KASLR is Dead: Long Live KASLR' (2017), which demonstrated the timing channel defeating kernel address-space layout randomisation and proposed the defence later deployed against Meltdown itself -- the attack surface was demonstrated before the attack was.
