Abstract
This short article presents a development of the author’s research on self-reference procedures, considered from the perspective of logical analysis of mathematical definitions and the rules for applying substitutions. This explanatory analysis is applied to the so-called ”Diagonalization Lemma,” the core of Gödel’s 1931 incompleteness argument, thus providing, for the first time, clear proof and explanation of why it turns out to be a violation of uniqueness in Peano arithmetic.
