This record's `entry_type` is `book` and the copy is the whole of it, so there is no abstract to find and the empty field is correct rather than unexamined. Recorded explicitly because the queue cannot distinguish "no abstract exists" from "nobody has looked", and 118 held copies were in that undecided state when this was written. One subtlety worth stating, since it will recur across the corpus's Springer books: Springer prints an abstract at the head of each *chapter*, not for the volume. `osgood2021principles`, for instance, opens chapter 2 with "Abstract The materials technology for integrated optics is complex". Those belong to chapters, and a record describing the whole book has none of its own. Harvesting one would attach a chapter's summary to a volume. |
