Abstract
Over the past few years, the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has experienced significant growth. This growth offers positive changes as well as new challenges in the area of IT security. Considering the rapid development and diverse application fields in AI technologies, our study emphasizes the importance of understanding and mitigating potential threats in the IT security sector. In our analysis, we examine the current state of AI attack methods. We identify and evaluate state-of-the-art AI tools and how they could be used for attack methods. Based on this analysis, we explore which specific attack methods are currently possible and implementable through the use of AI technologies, therefore providing a comprehensive analysis of AI’s role in the current cybersecurity landscape. In our analysis, we examine a range of possible attack vectors of AI in cybersecurity, including AI-based code analysis for pinpointing vulnerabilities within Software code, AI-driven code generation capable of producing various malware types, the utilization of AI in crafting convincing phishing campaigns, AI in social engineering, with a particular emphasis on the use of deepfakes and Voice Cloning technologies, and the potential of AI in bypassing biometric security systems.
