| Abstract | No abstract is printed on the paper. Leaf 1 of the copy carries the title, the authors' Bolt Beranek and Newman affiliation, a summary paragraph in the left column and a Preface in the right, then straight into section 1 -- Computer Networks in 1977 did not require a separate abstract block, and the journal printed none. The summary paragraph could be harvested as one, and I have not: it is the article's own opening prose, not a statement offered as an abstract, and the corpus distinguishes those. Empty on purpose; the paper's own framing is recorded in a note here. |
